Enrichment at the Academy offers extra-curricular opportunities for students after school and on the weekends. These programs are open to the public.

Bulldog Athletic Programs are run by Norfolk Academy varsity coaches, and varsity players and other coaches are on hand to help the students learn basic skills.

  • Fashion Design/Sewing: Beginners (FULL)

    Explore the world of fashion design and sewing with a 6 week class that will teach young students how to use a sewing machine to create Fashion. Students will learn about different fabrics, how to use them and how to construct their projects. Sewing machines will be provided.

  • After School Hip Hop & Tap!

    Attention Guys and Gals!!! If you've ever wanted to try hip hop and tap... This class is for you! Over the course of 13 weeks you will learn two popular dance styles that teach rhythm, musicality, creative expression, and coordination. Ms. Aimee will be teaching tap and Mr. Richard will be teaching hip hop. Then we will create a dance in each style to perform in the Lower School Dance Concert on Saturday, May 12th. 


    Dates: Tuesdays February 6 - May 8 (No class on March 6)

    About the instructors: 
    Ms. Aimée Long joined the Norfolk Academy faculty as a part-time dance instructor in 2007.  She holds a Master of Arts in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduated magna cum laude from Belhaven College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet. Ms. Long teaches for Denise Wall's Dance Energy in Virginia Beach and is a certified Pilates Mat instructor. She has been a member of the Elbert Watson Dance Company since 2000 and still takes ballet class regularly to keep up with her students!
    Mr. Richard Corbin has had an extensive career in the dance world performing and teaching. He is a guest teacher for Norfolk Academy's Dance Team and a guest teacher for the Lower School dance classes. He currently teaches hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and acrobatics at Dynamic Movement, Golden Slippers Dance Academy, and Music & Motion. He is also a member of the Elbert Watson Dance Company for over ten years. 
  • YPTP presents Trolls: The Musical (FULL)

    I got this feeling, inside my bones.....this is going to be a great YPTP.  This spring will be like no other as we bring one of the most beloved stories to life on the Johnson Stage~  Trolls:The Musical!!  Mrs. Peterson has adapted the movie into a musical with singing, dancing and of course, hugs!  Princess Poppy and her band of merry makers will take us on an exciting journey as they help the Bergens realize the way to true happiness.

  • Bulldog Basketball

    The Bulldog Basketball League is an opportunity for boys and girls to be introduced to, improve in, and compete in the great sport of basketball.  Both basketball skills and important life lessons will be introduced at each session. Please bring a basketball and water bottle.

  • Karate Dojo

    WELCOME TO GENBU KAI OF VIRGINIA. To share the invaluable teachings, principles, and traditions of the art of Karate-Do.Through our teachings we instill good work ethic, positive attitude, a resilient mind and spirit, along with building a strong physical body. Our main goal is to develop good character and to become the best version of ourselves. Any student who is enrolled at Norfolk Academy karate class can also attend classes at the main dojo at no additional cost. Interested parents /students please see Sensei.

  • EDI Extra (FULL)

    Come extend your EDI experience! Make magnetic slime and see how it dances to music! Construct catapults and storm the other team's castle. Also on the schedule are designing and building an extending grabber, build and race propeller cars, and compete in a parachute drop challenge!
