How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
I have been at Norfolk Academy for seven years.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
My parents, who are entering their final year of teaching at the Holderness School, are why I was drawn to education. I grew up watching them build important and long-lasting relationships with students, and I knew at a young age that I wanted to do the same.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
The students, the teachers, the staff and people like Roy Newton—what a guy!

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...we have an exceptional number of passionate teachers and coaches who love their work in the classroom just as much as they love their work with athletes.

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
These days, my time is happily occupied by our daughter, Morgan. She’s a little pistol who keeps us on our toes and thoroughly entertained.

Last book read:
Beartown by Fredrik Backman

Favorite food?
My mom’s pasta – you can’t beat it!

A movie is being made about your life. Whom would they cast to play you?
Some folks have said Kerri Russell, although I don’t see it. Instead, I’d choose Meryl Streep – you can’t go wrong with her, right?

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
In high school, I camped in the woods for 10 nights. We backpacked on snowshoes during the winter in New Hampshire. For three of the nights, I had to pitch a tarp, build my own fire, and sleep solo.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...I love traveling and food – maybe a writer for a travel guide magazine.
