How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
XII annorum (12 years)

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I had the greatest teachers and loved school so much that I never wanted to leave.   More to the point, it gives me the opportunity to share the things I love and to never grow up.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
I get to play with words and ideas every day, and it is as rewarding as it is demanding.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...there are so many beautifully nerdy brains here, both in the faculty and the student body, that teaching and learning never end.

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I like to spend my free time embarrassing my children at their sporting events, watching documentaries and old movies, cooking, learning new things, reading, planning summer programs like the 8th Grade Odyssey, Harry Potter Camp, and my latest summer endeavor with the amazing Phil Call--Hobbit Camp!--premiering Summer 2019.

Last book read:
The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman

Favorite food?
Eggplant (or espresso, if that counts as a food)

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
Cloris Leachman or Meryl Streep (she’s from my hometown and a pretty good actor).

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
I was married in Yankee Stadium, I was on the cover art of several science fiction and fantasy books in the 90’s, and I am overly-opinionated and obsessed with type-fonts.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...taller or a time-traveler.
