Greer Gill ’18 is The Virginian-Pilot’s Female Athlete of the Year

Greer Gill ’18, who helped lead the field hockey team to an undefeated season and its third state championship in four years, and also ran indoor track in the winter and played soccer in the spring season, is The Virginian-Pilot’s Female Athlete of the Year.

Gill was honored in a ceremony on Thursday, June 28,  at the third annual All-Tidewater Showcase banquet at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Tayvion Robinson, a junior at Cox High School who is a football and basketball star, is the Male Athlete of the Year.

Gill, a midfielder, scored 15 goals and had 28 assists as the Bulldogs finished the season ranked No. 1 in South Hampton Roads for the first time and attained a No. 2 national ranking. She has earned numerous additional honors, including VISAA Player of the Year and All-Tidewater Player of the Year, and she will play for University of Virginia this fall.
