How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
This is my 18th year at Norfolk Academy – twelve years as a student and six years as a faculty member!

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
The idea of getting paid to learn all day - plus still having time off in the summer to travel - has always seemed appealing to me.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
At first it was getting to work with all of our awesome colleagues, many of whom were my mentors during my time as a student; however, after working here for a couple of years, now the most exciting part is getting to see students and former students grow up.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...of its sense of community. Parents, alumni, students, and faculty all go way out of their way to help each other because, as Bulldogs, that’s just what we do.

Last book read:
Fishcamp by Nancy Lord

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
When I am not working, I spend most of my time hanging out with my family, and we are usually doing something outdoors. We try to spend as much time as possible either on or near the water.

Favorite food?
Either pizza or a bacon cheeseburger (with barbecue sauce)

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
I used to live on a sailboat.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
