How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
I have been at Norfolk Academy for eight years.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I love seeing kids grow. I feel really lucky to get to work with our students over the course of six years and to see them learn and transform so much during their time at NA.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
I love the people I get to work with every day. Our students are kind and interesting and funny. Our teachers are the best possible colleagues - passionate and creative.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...it’s SO old. I think students and teachers alike have a real sense of purpose and a clear direction when it comes to our philosophy of education, because the history and traditions of the school have such a long reach. We really know who we are as a school.

Last book read:
We Are Okay by Nina LaCour

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
Life is very baby-centric these days. There’s lots of play doh, slides, games of chase, and focusing very hard to figure out what the weird sounds and gestures my kiddo makes are supposed to mean. When there’s time, I like to do complicated baking projects and letterpress printing.

Favorite food?
Anything Indian

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
Sally Mortemore

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
One time on a camping trip the President’s daughter made me pancakes.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...hanging out with some sloths in the rainforest.
