Norfolk Academy’s varsity teams have performed exceptionally well this spring. After finishing a competitive regular season, five teams continued to be successful in the run for a TCIS Championship. The teams that earned TCIS Championships include:
Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse: TCIS Champions after defeating Cape Henry Collegiate School 14-8. This is the team’s fourth consecutive TCIS Championship win.
Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse: TCIS Champions after defeating Cape Henry Collegiate School 13-6. This is the team’s fourth consecutive TCIS Championship win.
Girls’ Varsity Soccer: TCIS Champions after defeating Norfolk Collegiate 2-1. This is the team’s second consecutive TCIS Championship win.
Boys’ Varsity Tennis: TCIS Champions after winning the tournament and going 7-0 in regular season play. First place finishers in singles were No. 3 Shrey Vachhani, No. 4 Max Steingold, and No. 6 Taylor Fox. Winning at doubles were No. 3 Cole Jordan and Cabot McTavish.
Boys’ Track and Field: TCIS Champions after winning 233 points to Hampton Roads Academy’s 57 as runner-up. Of the 16 events contested, the team won every single running event and one field event.
The Crew team, which does not have a TCIS-designated event and competes at regattas against public and private schools, as well as club teams, won both the EVSRA (Eastern Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association) regatta and the Independent School Regatta. The Boys’ Lightweight 4 team became the first N.A. boat to win an event at the state championship (VASRA) regatta; the team qualified for nationals later in May.
Other teams came close to a TCIS win, including the varsity golf team, who came just shy of a title and finished in second place in the TCIS Tournament. While the varsity baseball and varsity softball teams were knocked out of their conference runs, both earned a seventh seed ranking to compete in VISAA tournament play.
Congratulations to all of our spring athletes and coaches, and best of luck to those continuing with VISAA Tournament play!
