How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
This is my sixth year at Norfolk Academy.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I wanted to have the opportunity to impact young lives on a daily basis.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
Coming into work each day and being surrounded by such incredible people, from the students to faculty and staff.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...of its history and the place it holds in the Tidewater area, and the emphasis it places on molding and building character. Oh, and family style lunches.

Last book read:
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I have quickly found myself wrapped around my daughter's finger. Other than that, I am usually spending time with my extended family, outside, around the water, or watching sports.

Favorite food?
Pizza or my mom’s pasta/pasta sauce

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
I would like to think Matthew McConaughey.

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
While surfing with Mr. Barton, I “survived” an encounter with a large sea creature. I never saw it to be able to confirm, but it was large enough to give me a big ol’ bump to say hello. This encounter - coupled with my imagination - hasn’t helped me get over my massive fear of sharks.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...a bed and breakfast owner.
