Students Receive High Honors in Regional Forensics Competition
The Lower School Forensics team found success when they performed in the Robert S. Sergeant Independent School Forensics competition on Wednesday, April 18. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy hosted this year’s event.
Five students received medals in their categories. The team finished in second place, three points behind Cape Henry Collegiate School.
Students who placed in the top three include:
Boys’ Poetry - Jayden Moore '24, 1st place
Girls’Oratory - Katie Fernandez '24, 1st place
Girls’Prose - Lily Stockwell '24, 2nd place
Boys’Storytelling - David Salter '25, 2nd place
Girls’ Storytelling - Toye Lawani '24, 3rd place
“I am grateful for the support of our teacher-coaches – Sarah Smythe, Jen Walker, Alice Pleming, Jackie Diamonstein, Kathy Lonergan, and Marianne Tembe – who worked with our storytellers,” said Susan Duquette, assistant director of the Lower School and teacher-coach for the Oratory Team. “We look forward to continued success in years to come.”
Norfolk Academy will host the competition during the 2019-20 school year. Congratulations to our medalists and all of the competitors!
