Greer Gill '18 Selected for the Junior U.S. Women’s Field Hockey National Team
As Norfolk Academy’s first All-Tidewater Field Hockey Player of the Year, Greer Gill ’18 has a propensity for finding success in her athletic endeavors. The VISAA Division I Player of the Year, who has committed to play at the University of Virginia this fall, has been named to the 2018 U.S. U-19 Women’s Field Hockey National Team Roster.
Selected from some of the nation’s best field hockey athletes, Gill is one of 19 women who made the roster. She will be taking a short break from playing on the Girls' Varsity Soccer Team to compete with the Junior U.S. Women’s National Team. Gill, who has attended Norfolk Academy since first grade, is a three-sport athlete. In addition to playing for the undefeated state champion Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey team this fall, she also ran indoor track this winter and is playing on the soccer team this spring.
“The cool thing about Greer is that she has fun with her athletic ability,” said athletic director Aubrey Shinofield. “It’s not a grind for her to participate in multiple sports. She had the opportunity to be a three-sport athlete, and has chosen to do so during her senior year.”
The U-19 National Team begins their Ireland Tour this week. Congratulations and good luck, Greer!
