Norfolk Academy Boys' and Girls' Swimming Win TCIS Championships and Set New Conference Records

Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming won Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools championships this weekend, setting six new TCIS records on the way to decisive victories.

Norfolk Academy Girls’ Swimming won with 528 points, followed by Hampton Roads Academy with 404 and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy with 224. Norfolk Academy Boys’ Swimming had 550 points to HRA’s 428 and Walsingham’s 232.

Callie Dickinson ’18 was named the most valuable swimmer for the girls after winning all four of her races, including two relays; she set a new TCIS record in the 100 butterfly (57.83). Hampton Roads Academy's Nicholas Schoenig was named MVP for the boys.

Spencer Ryan ’19 won the 100 breaststroke, setting a new TCIS record of 59.89. The Norfolk Academy team set TCIS records in four relays: Girls 200 Medley; Boys 200 Medley; Girls 200 Freestyle; and Boys 400 Freestyle.

Norfolk Academy divers, participating in a separate meet at St. Catherine’s School, also did well, with Balthazar Denk ’19 and Peyton McNider ’19 finishing first and second for the boys’ 11-dive competition, and Kaitlyn Antonick ’18 finishing second for the girls’ 11-dive. In the 6-dive format, Valerie Spektor ’22 finished third.
