Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy, formerly Learning Bridge, has been serving Norfolk Public School students since 1993. Breakthrough’s mission is two-fold: to prepare middle school students for academic success through a tuition-free summer program and to provide hands-on teaching experience to talented high school and college students considering careers in education. Each year, Breakthrough enrolls approximately sixty students led by a group of fifteen teachers. Breakthrough students consistently cite the relationships with their summer teachers as the most meaningful aspect of the program. Breakthrough teachers often find that the internship has inspired them to enter the field of education.

We are looking for recent NA alumni interested in making a positive impact on children. This position requires energy, commitment, the desire to teach, and a personal investment in the lives of middle school students. The program runs weekdays from June 11th to July 27th, plus Saturday July 28th. No previous teaching experience is required. If you are interested, please contact Ari Zito, Director of Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy, at azito@norfolkacademy.org.
