Alden

Congratulations to senior Alden Roberts, who was honored this week as television station WVEC's Athlete of the Week!

The station noted Alden's accomplishments on the volleyball court, where she has started on varsity since ninth grade. As a junior she helped the Bulldogs reach the state semifinals, and earlier this season she recorded her 1,000th career assist.

The station also highlighted that Alden is the definition of a well-rounded student-athlete. She is a Global Affairs Fellow and participates in a variety of extracurriculars, including Happy Club, which supports the nonprofit Operation Smile, and the Special Olympics Club. In addition to volleyball, she plays basketball and lacrosse for the Bulldogs.

Alden has committed to play volleyball for New York University in New York City, a top academic school.

While her drive and dedication have certainly fueled her successes, Alden credited Norfolk Academy's culture for pushing her.

“The teachers and all the students just come here every day excited and loving to come and learn and teach each other," she said. "Just everything I’ve learned and all the people I’m around I’d say are my biggest inspiration.”
