As part of Women's History Month in March, WTKR-TV news reporter Jen Lewis profiled our Girl Up Club, which empowers students to address global issues facing young women.
Part of a national organization, Girl Up started at NA in 2015. The club’s mission is to equip young women with the knowledge and tools they need to create social change in their communities and worldwide.
The segment notes that a group of 20 meets regularly to discuss topics like intersectionality, feminism, and the importance of female role models.
During one recent meeting, club member Nyla '23 said, “The more women we have, especially a diverse group of women in power, whether it be in your school or wherever you go to work, seeing these kinds of things, seeing women in those roles is beneficial to the mental health of young women everywhere.”
Dr. David Kidd serves as the club's faculty sponsor.
