Ryan Tucker, a teacher-coach at Norfolk Academy, enjoyed quite the weekend.
Mr. Tucker teaches history and English in the Middle School. He helps with the Bulldogs' soccer program and recently became head varsity lacrosse coach.
During his free time, Mr. Tucker plays midfield for the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. The Bayhawks reached the league's Final Four, which was held in Colorado from October 4-6.
On Friday night, Mr. Tucker scored two goals as Chesapeake beat Atlanta 14-13, to reach the championship game.
On Saturday night, Mr. Tucker was awarded the league's Corum Players Choice Award, which is given to the player considered to be the best teammate. Players themselves vote on this honor.
On Sunday, in a game televised by ESPN2, Mr. Tucker helped Chesapeake defeat hometown Denver for the championship.
Mr. Tucker landed back in Norfolk late Sunday. He was still up for a workout on campus early Monday, then greeted students in carpool later that morning.
