Welcome Our New Faculty: Victoria Tabibi

Victoria Tabibi joins the Norfolk Academy family as an Upper School Physics Teacher. While completing her Bachelor's degree in Physics, Ms. Tabibi began working at the Pretlow Planetarium at Old Dominion University. That experience led her to pursue a teaching career, which she began by earning a Master's in Education from ODU. She taught science in Norfolk Public Schools before joining the NA family. She also became an aerialist.

Why did you want to become a teacher/work in education?
Oddly enough, I never wanted to be a teacher; I did not think I could be passionate enough like the teachers I've had the pleasure of having. After working at the Pretlow Planetarium at ODU, I noticed the joy and excitement that I felt anytime I would present a show. Once the realization hit, the rest was history!

What excites you about Norfolk Academy?
I'm excited to simply be a part of the community. As an Upper School teacher, I'll be working with students who are preparing for that next phase in their life. When I was in school, my teachers played a huge role in those next steps for me, so I hope to do the same for my own students.

What's one fun fact about you students might find interesting?
I'm a beginner aerialist, going on 2 1/2 years! Lyra (aerial hoop) is my primary apparatus, but I have been training more on sling and silks these past few months.
