Norfolk Academy's new Athletic Trainer and a Middle School Physical Education Teacher, Maggie Johns began helping our student-athletes over the summer. She brings an abundance of experience: Head Athletic Trainer at St. Maria Goretti (MD) High School; Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Florida Atlantic University; Director of Sports Medicine and Head Football Athletic Trainer at the University of New Haven (CT); and Clinical Outreach Athletic Trainer with CHKD here in Hampton Roads.

Why did you want to become a teacher/work in education?
I thoroughly enjoy helping students at a young age with learning how to exercise properly, take care of their bodies, participate in team sports, perform their best and recover properly. I take joy in spreading knowledge about sports medicine and all of the things that it encompasses. 

What excites you about Norfolk Academy?
Everything. I am thrilled to get to know the students, embrace their enthusiasm, and learn about their passions and their love for this community. I am looking forward to being part of this family and becoming a better person for it.

What's one fun fact about you students might find interesting?
I love the Washington Commanders, always have and always will 🙂
