Welcome Our New Faculty: Hannah Sutton '13

Hannah Sutton '13 returns to the Norfolk Academy campus as a fourth grade boys teacher. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, she started her education career in South Carolina, later relocating to Colorado and teaching fourth grade and coaching Girls on the Run. Most recently, she has been in Learning & Development at a financial services firm.

In the coming weeks, Norfolk Academy will introduce new faculty and staff to our family with biographies and a quick Q&A session. These introductions also are viewable on Norfolk Academy's Instagram page.

Why teach?
My passion for education began during my experience with my teachers at Norfolk Academy. They modeled that great educators have the power to shape students' confidence, character, and future. This was reinforced during my first child development course at the University of South Carolina, where I discovered how much I love learning about how children grow, think, and learn. Since then, I have been committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that challeng students, celebrate their individuality, and help them discover a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom.

Why NA?
Returning to Norfolk Academy feels like coming home. As a proud alumna, I experienced the school's commitment to academic excellence, character development, and opportunities that encouraged me to explore my interests and grow as a leader. I am excited to create those same meaningful experiences for today's students while contributing to a community that values curiosity, integrity, and lifelong learning.

Fun Fact About You?
I was a student volunteer for two Operation Smile international surgical programs to Cambodia and Nicaragua.
