Welcome Our New Faculty: Dr. Lauren Holthaus

Welcome Lauren Holthaus, Norfolk Academy's new Lower School Assistant Director! Dr. Holthaus, a third-generation educator, earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, her Master of Arts in Education from Stanford University, and her Doctorate from Vanderbilt University. As a military spouse, Dr. Holthaus has had the opportunity to live in many places and has worked in both independent and public schools in Hawaii, South Carolina, and Virginia. She began her career as a classroom teacher and then served as a reading teacher before transitioning into administration, where she has held roles at the elementary, high school, and central office levels.

Why did you want to become a teacher?
I absolutely love to learn! Getting to support others to expand their skills and knowledge is the absolute most rewarding way to spend my days.

What excites you about Norfolk Academy?
Students at NA thrive as individuals and collectively. I am thrilled to be here to learn from and with this fantastic community!

What's one fun fact about you students might find interesting?
My first classroom as a teacher was in Hawaii. My students and I ate outside every day of the year, rain or shine!
