Welcome Our New Faculty: Charlotte Berron '96

Charlotte Berron '96 teaches English and German in Middle School and will coach in the girls lacrosse program. She is an accomplished educator with more than 15 years of German and English language teaching experience across high school and university levels. She has most recently served at Cox High School in Virginia Beach, where she taught while organizing international exchange programs with partner schools in Germany. As a former Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Austria and adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, she brings an international perspective that emphasizes immersive language learning and meaningful cultural exchange.

Why did you want to become a teacher?
For me, teaching is about helping students grow – not just intellectually, but emotionally and as whole human beings. Watching that growth unfold makes it the best job in the world.

What excites you about Norfolk Academy?
The synchronicity of life, coming home to the Norfolk Academy community that has been part of my journey – is deeply exciting. It feels both full circle and full of possibility.

What's one fun fact about you students might find interesting?
I have practiced yoga for most of my life and have been teaching it for the past 12 years.
