State champs

Norfolk Academy enjoyed tremendous success this fall athletics season, capped by our varsity field hockey team winning a state championship on November 13!

Field hockey took the state title with a 5-1 win over Trinity Episcopal on November 13 in Richmond. The win marked the fourth state crown for our Bulldogs in the past seven years. The team also won in 2014, 2016, and 2017.

The win also capped an impressive season of highlights. Norfolk Academy finished ranked 10th in the entire nation by Max Field Hockey. Rachel Thetford '22 was named VISAA Division I State Player of the Year and Lizzie Adams '24, Brooke Bettencourt '24, Olivia Galiotos '22, Gretchen Scott '24, and Thetford all made 1st team All-State.

Galiotos was TCIS Player of the Year and Mary Werkheiser was TCIS Coach of the Year. On September 30, Coach Werkheiser earned her 400th career victory.

In addition to the field hockey success, volleyball and girls tennis reached the state semifinals, and boys soccer reached the state quarterfinals. Sailing, volleyball, field hockey, and girls tennis all won TCIS titles.

Great job, Bulldogs!
