Congratulations to teacher-coach Scott Fowler, who on October 28 was named the Wallace Honoree for Distinguished Teaching!
Named after the legendary Diane Wallace, who taught fourth grade boys at Norfolk Academy for 53 years, the award fosters teaching growth and rewards faculty members who demonstrate her devotion.
After earning an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Delaware and a Master of Arts degree in physiology at Penn State, Fowler worked in cardiac rehabilitation before answering the call to teach. After 12 years teaching and coaching in Virginia Beach public schools, he joined the Norfolk Academy family in 2001. He teaches science in the Middle School and has coached a number of sports, including football, baseball, and softball.
“His ability to ask simple yet deep and thought-provoking questions reflects his dedication to not just teaching but to shaping young minds and guiding them through life's uncertainties," Head of School Travis Larrabee said.
