Six Norfolk Academy students took part in early December in the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership and People of Color conferences in Denver.

With teacher-coaches Melissa Carrillo and Olivia Fox, the group engaged in thoughtful debriefs at the end of each day, and plans conversations with the school community about what they learned.

Among their takeaways:

“I have been learning more about myself these last few days and what it means to be in a community."

“I had an enriching experience exploring the themes of leadership, freedom, and justice."

“I have enjoyed getting the opportunity to create bonds with people similar to me. I also enjoyed finding similarities between people with different experiences and learning about their perspective on different issues."
