Norfolk Academy hosted a robotics competition on January 18, with 30 schools from around the Mid-Atlantic competing.
Teams came from as far away as Charlottesville and even Baltimore, Maryland. About 400 people packed into the Pavilion and around campus, competing and cheering students as they worked on and tested their robots.
The event was part of the FIRST Tech program, which promotes STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education. A number of awards were handed out.
Norfolk Academy took second place in the Reach Award category, which recognizes teams that are role models, promoting STEM education and growing the robotics community.
