Norfolk Academy celebrated its annual Military Appreciation Night on October 18, as the school paid tribute to the many service members and veterans in its community and those who serve around the world.

Students in NA's Military Appreciation Club organized the event, which was held around the Friday night varsity football game. Club members thanked service members and veterans beforehand, giving them gifts of appreciation. The club also had shirts made with the American flag on the back.

Joining the officials for the coin flip was Retired U.S. Navy Captain Brian Becker, father of three current Bulldogs, including football player Brock Becker '25. 

Just before the game, club and service members and a few fans from the crowd carried a large United States flag onto the field for the national anthem, which was sung by Addie Peterson '25. The flag was about 20 yards long and more than 5 yards wide, requiring the support of a few dozen people to carry.

To cap the evening, service members were invited onto the field track at halftime for one more round of applause. The Armed Forces Medley played over the loudspeakers during this final salute.
