Caroline Monninger begins in 2019-20 as a Lower School administrative assistant.

Mrs. Monninger attended Deerfield Academy, where she was awarded the Robert M. McDermott Award as the top student-athlete. She continued her studies at St. Lawrence University, where she was co-president of the Student Athletic Advisory Board while playing women's ice hockey. A captain her junior and senior years, she helped lead her team to the 2001 NCAA Frozen Four. Upon graduation she served as an assistant coach for the women's ice hockey team at Middlebury College, which won a national championship in 2004. She then began her teaching career as a physical education teacher at Middlebury Union High School in Vermont, where she served for seven years. During that time she earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont.
Tell us why you wanted to work in education:
I love working with children! I am excited to watch students grow throughout the years. Before becoming an administrative assistant, I was a physical education teacher, and I was in a position where I had a direct impact on my students and their health.
What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
I am excited to get to know the students, along with my colleagues, and I am proud to work in a culture where the honor code begins and ends with trusting one another.

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my husband, Steve, and our sons, JJ '28 and Michael '31. We enjoy camping, outdoor activities, playing board games, and playing sports together. I also enjoy exercising, going for walks, and listening to country music.
Favorite foods?
Steak, salmon, and shrimp.

I am related to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. We share the same grandfather eight generations back. We are basically cousins!
