Upcoming Receptions Will Spotlight New Perrel Gallery Exhibit

The latest Perrel Art Gallery exhibit features three architecture firms whose work in Hampton Roads has transformed the local community and beyond.

The exhibit, Growing Home: Transforming Community through Architecture, features work of Clay Dills Architects, Hanbury, and WPA. It includes beautiful photos of construction sites and finished projects, renderings, site plans, drawings, large 3-D models, and an interactive data visualization.

Architecture plays a central role in communities, shaping identity and impacting health and well-being. All three of the featured firms have built culturally significant spaces.

As with the opening gallery exhibit of this school year, this one also is curated by a student, Siya Patel, 26. Siya is an EDI Fellow in the Batten Leadership Program.

Art Teacher Betsy DiJulio, who co-chairs the Fine Arts Department, also curated.

The exhibit opened October 7 and will remain open for students, teachers, and classes through December 5. There also will be opportunities for the general public to see this free exhibit. A reception with architects' remarks begins at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 29. The NA Jazz Band will perform and refreshments will be served.

In addition, the gallery will be open 10 AM till 3 PM on Saturday, November 15.
