Ferguson

Catie Ferguson begins in 2020-21 as a fourth grade teacher.

Academic background:
B.S., Florida State University
M.Ed., University of Virginia

Additional experience:
For the past two years, Mrs. Ferguson has worked as an administrative assistant at St. John’s Episcopal Parish Day School in Florida. Before moving there during a family military relocation, she served Norfolk Academy for about six years in a variety of areas, lastly as a fourth grade classroom teacher. She also served in Breakthrough at Norfolk Academy and Summer Programs, and as a softball coach and Lower School Teaching Associate for first grade. She graduated from Florida State with a degree in family and child services and a concentration in education and psychology. She earned her Master’s in curriculum and instruction.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I wanted to be a part of children discovering their potential both in and out of the classroom. 

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
The faculty. They are some of the most inspiring educators, who challenge me to be a better teacher each day.

It's more than just a school. It's a family!

Last book read:
Everything from Mercer Mayer, children's author and illustrator. They are on constant repeat in my house with my kids!

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time outside with my family, beach days, and running. 

Favorite food?
Shorebreak Pizza. No doubt about it!
