For the Year of Understanding, NASA aerospace engineer Hillary Berndt Blakeley '08 enthusiastically taught Lower School students about understanding things in space and on Earth.
Blakeley has worked on projects from SAGE III, a project about monitoring the Earth's atmosphere, to LOFTID, an inflatable heat shield that is part of the technology serving missions to Mars and beyond.
“What is an engineer? A problem solver!" she told the students, who had many questions for her.
The November 13 Chapel was organized by the Lower School's two Engineering, Design, and Innovation teachers, Kaitlyn Tyler '07 and Chris Stobbs, both of whom donned NASA caps in tribute to the special guest!
