Feet were tapping and heads were bopping Thursday as the Middle School Band and Orchestra performed their winter concert.
With Mr. Kelby Schnepel directing, the band began the show with three catchy tunes: Sing, Sing, Sing by Louis Prima; Don't Stop Believin' by Journey; and Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. The crowd of students, teachers, and parents in Johnson Theater clearly appreciated the sounds, applauding loudly after each.
The Tucker String Quartet then performed while the crowd awaited the orchestra. The quartet has two violins, a viola, and a cello.
Also under the direction of Mr. Schnepel, orchestra members kept the vibe going. They played Winter Solstice by Todd Parrish; A Russian Winter by Doug Spata; and Bohemian Dance by David Bobrowitz.
This show was the first of several before holiday break. Norfolk Academy's Winter Concert is 7 p.m. on December 11; the Middle School Choral Concert is 9:15 a.m. on December 12; and the Lower School Holiday Concert is 9 a.m. on December 20. All are free and open to the public.
