Koch

Katie Koch joins the Norfolk Academy family as a Lower School Teaching Associate. She also is the head coach for the cheerleading team.

Ms. Koch graduated in 2023 from Middlebury College, where she studied Psychology, Education, and Anthropology. Her college summers were spent beach lifeguarding, co-founding a virtual youth mentorship program to alleviate impacts of Covid-19, instructing history with a study-abroad program in The Bahamas, and leading middle school wilderness trips in northern California. She joined NA after a year in Boston, where she worked in travel and for a nonprofit focused on introducing inner-city youth to outdoor recreation.

Why did you want to become a teacher?
I love learning, and I have always been inspired and excited by the bonds that form when students venture outside their academic, athletic, and social comfort zones. Teaching and coaching allow me to tap into that joy daily, and it's a lot of fun.

What excites you about Norfolk Academy?
NA fosters such a special kind of intentional community, and it is felt from the moment you step onto campus. I think at NA there is a unique opportunity to connect with students and teachers across divisions, never get bored, and never feel unsupported. That is a great place to be!

What's one fun fact about you students might find interesting?
My go-to Ben and Jerry's order is Phish Food.
