Lower School Seminar Day on June 2 focused on two themes: Building Connections and Strengthening the Community.
During an opening Chapel, Lower School Director Michelle Alexander read the book I am We, which teaches the values of connection. Alexander then reinforced a point made throughout this Year of Understanding on campus, that it is important to come together in community.
As students said during the Chapel, “We are better together."
“There is power in the word we," Alexander said.
To that end, the day was devoted to academic, athletic, and fine arts pursuits that brought everyone in grades 1-6 together, collaborating and having fun doing so. They helped themselves and others during exercise, showed off art and music talents while appreciating the skills of others, and practiced respect and support on group projects, even when they disagreed.
