Lower School Chapel Teaches About Smart Technology Use

Lower School Chapel on September 23 taught the young students about how to wisely use technology.

Led by Lower School Director Michelle Alexander and including many teachers, the students heard that technology does have many benefits. Lower School students experience those benefits regularly; they receive instruction on laptops and use technology in the classroom, in EDI lessons, and other places.

However, there is a downside to technology, especially when used in excess. Teachers explained how focusing too much on a phone or laptop can lead to exhaustion and staying up too late, as well as poor impulse decisions.

Stop and think before using technology, the teachers said. Look around at what other students are doing. Then, with those pieces of knowledge, make a decision about how to use technology.

Lower School Chapel is held monthly, focusing on a variety of different topics. The opening Chapel this year introduced students to their new teachers and talked about purpose, this year's theme on campus.
