Music Teacher Becky Peterson led Lower School Chapel on February 14, highlighting the values and virtues of music, as well as a significant upcoming concert.

On February 17, the Norfolk Academy Children's Choir, which Mrs. Peterson directs, will perform at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach. The choir will perform along with the renowned Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

Titled Sing a Song, the concert will feature folk songs and show how they're connected to orchestral music. Songs will include My Country 'Tis of Thee, Simple Gifts, Clementine, and When the Saints Go Marching In.

Tickets are available through the Sandler Center. The show begins at 3 p.m., with pre-concert activities one hour earlier.

As a warmup, the choir performed during the Lower School Chapel. The students were joined by the informal Chapel Band, which included Band Director Jordon Crichlow, Teacher-Coaches Phil Call and Adam Clifford, Mr. Duane Smith, who is helping lead band lessons, and some older students. The band has performed casually on Friday afternoons during this school year, providing entertainment heading into weekends.

Their music got the Lower School swaying and clapping, enjoying the sweet sounding music!
