Grandparents Day 2025: Schoolhouse Rock

Held each year leading into Thanksgiving Break, Grandparents Day lets Lower School students spend cherished time with loved ones.

On Monday, November 24, students sang in Burroughs Gym for their parents. The next afternoon they sang for grandparents. Immediately following that presentation, students brought their grandparents over to their classrooms to show off all that they've been learning this fall.

This year's Grandparents Day theme was Schoolhouse Rock! A popular television cartoon in the 1970s and 1980s, the show is both educational and fun. Songs are catchy and also teach. Some of the songs the Lower School sang were Conjunction Junction; Get Your Adverbs Here; Interplanet Janet; and Interjections.

Lower School Music and Theater Teacher Becky Peterson directed the show, with support from the Grandparents Day Band. In addition, a few dozen sixth graders provided context to each song for the large audience.
