Glenn Youngkin '85 won election on Tuesday, November 3 to be the next Governor of Virginia! A newcomer to politics, Mr. Youngkin defeated former Gov. Terry McAuliffe in a hard-fought campaign. Mr. Youngkin will take office in January.
Mr. Youngkin was an outstanding student-athlete at Norfolk Academy, earning an athletic scholarship to Rice University, where he studied engineering. He later earned his MBA at Harvard Business School and worked at The Carlyle Group, eventually moving up to the top of the private global equity firm.
He is a past Academy trustee and benefactor who established a need-based financial aid scholarship, like the one that enabled him to attend the Academy.
