Flashback: Dr. Jane Goodall Visits Norfolk Academy

Did you know? Jane Goodall, the world-renowned chimpanzee expert who passed away on October 1 at the age of 91, made a memorable visit to Norfolk Academy.

On April 1, 1997, Dr. Goodall shared with students some of her fascinating stories, dating back to when she began her research in Tanzania in 1960. Dr. Goodall emphasized that everyone can make a difference in the world simply by doing small things.

She asked students to perform constructive activities, and they immediately went to work. In just a few days, they raised more than $1,000 for the global nonprofit Jane Goodall Institute.

Dr. Goodall was so moved she personally wrote a thank you card to Headmaster John Tucker.

“If all schools had such wonderful students + staff my problems would be solved!" she wrote.
