Fine Arts Recap: Students Thriving In All Facets

Norfolk Academy's Fine Arts students thrived during the month of November.

Brogan Brown '28 and Yaoyao Wang '26 both played in the top orchestra in the Senior Regional Orchestra performance. Students from public and private schools were eligible to audition for this prestigious event.

NA's Jazz Band has been livening up crowds all around campus, and these musical virtuosos gained recognition on a regional stage. Under the direction of instructor Jordon Crichlow, the group performed at a competition at Hampton University, earning an Excellent rating from judges.

Also, NA's Chorus sang the National Anthem before a basketball game at Old Dominion University.

Another student achievement came in Perrel Art Gallery, where the exhibit Growing Home: Transforming Community through Architecture was on display. The exhibit featured work of Clay Dills Architects, Hanbury, and WPA. As with the opening gallery exhibit of this school year, this one also was curated by a student, Siya Patel, 26. Siya is an EDI Fellow in the Batten Leadership Program. Art Teacher Betsy DiJulio, who co-chairs the Fine Arts Department, also curated.
