Students and alumni will have several weeks to enjoy Field Day this year!
Norfolk Academy Field Day, established in 1891, is the longest standing community event at the school. Typically, students, faculty, parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, and members of the community gather on campus for a day of family fun on the first Saturday in May. All proceeds from Field Day benefit need-based financial aid and student programs that directly enhance the educational experience for all students.
Amid the worldwide pandemic, this year will look different. The traditional Art Show will be a virtual event held over the course of three weeks. The golf tournament will also be virtual, with competitors able to tee off on the courses of their choosing throughout the second half of April. And the school is planning several on-campus activities for students in late April and early May.
Art Show: The 36th Annual Art Show will be entirely virtual, except for an artist curbside drop of sold art and a purchaser curbside pickup at the conclusion of the show. A preview of the show began April 9, including works from more than 130 professional artists. Sales will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 23, and continue through noon on Saturday, May 1. Curbside pickup of purchased items will be scheduled May 4 through May 7.
Golf Tournament: The annual event will take place at courses throughout the community. In this year’s virtual format, each participating foursome will complete one round of golf at the Princess Anne Country Club or a course of their choosing between April 15 and April 30. Winning foursomes and individuals will be announced on May 1.
