Engineering Class Asks Seniors To Study Ways To Improve Campus Life

Think you have a solution to traffic snags around Wesleyan Drive? Lines that can form in the refectory at lunchtime?

Seniors taking Engineering: Process & Practice with Mr. Bird have been working to solve these and other perceived issues on campus. Students researched, collected data, and conducted interviews, before analyzing and identifying potential solutions.

In early April, they presented their findings to Head of School Travis Larrabee, Assistant Heads of School Jeff Martin '87 and Grayson Bryant, and College Counseling Director Jennifer Scott. Among the other topics students studied: The school calendar and bell schedule; demerit system; and athletic performance center. Some of their recommendations may even become reality in the near future.

No matter what, they learned valuable skills.

“You're always going to have to give presentations and you're always going to have to solve problems, no matter what you go into," Mr. Bird said.
