Norfolk Academy closed its winter swimming season with a bang, as several students earned VISAA state championships.

Kayla Wilson '22 won four golds in girls swimming: 200 freestyle; 500 freestyle; 200 freestyle relay; and 400 freestyle relay. She set a state record in the 200 free, with a time of 1:47.03. She set a school record in the 500 free, with a time of 4:53.00.

The 400 free relay team was Ellie Jones '20, Marin McKee '22, Olivia Galiotos '22, and Wilson. The 200 free relay team was McKee, Virginia Gill '22, Anne Ware '22, and Wilson.

In boys swimming, Clayton Whetstine '22 won the 100 backstroke. 

Overall, the girls finished fourth in the state. The boys finished fifth.

Wilson plans to compete later this year in the U.S. Olympic Trials. Having dual citizenship, she also plans to compete in the Canadian Olympic Trials.
