Head Athletic Trainer Antoinette Bailey will take on an additional role starting this summer - Assistant Director of Athletics.
Coach Bailey will continue to serve as an athletic trainer, a position she has held at Norfolk Academy for two decades. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Longwood University, where she helped student-athletes at both the high school and collegiate levels. She earned a Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University while working as an Athletic Trainer for Virginia Wesleyan.
Bailey joins Director of Athletics Chad Byler and Greg Monaco, who also serves as Assistant Director of Athletics, in the department's administration.
As athletics trainers, Bailey and Joe Ingraham help dozens of student-athletes every day. Their service also extends beyond those roles. Both have taught physical education. And both are involved with important school activities; Bailey is instrumental in running Ninth Grade Leadership Lab while Ingraham teaches during Middle School Mini-mester.
That dedication is widely appreciated. In 2023, Bailey won the Excellence in Coaching Award, chosen by NA teacher-coaches and given to an individual who, through love of athletic competition and commitment to the overall development of student-athletes, serves as a role model for both athletes and coaches and advances the mission of the school through strength of character and integrity. Earlier this year, she received the Royster Teacher of the Year Award, chosen by the Royster Student Council and based on character, integrity, and service to the school and community.
