Exciting Choices

Upper School students in Art I have released a cookbook, filled with illustrations of some of their favorite recipes, sure to provide many happy hours in the kitchen and around the table.

Here's the backstory: Art I students have been hard at work on this tasty gift for the NA community since before the winter break, with other projects interwoven. The digital cookbook features their drawn and painted illustrations of favorite family recipes, the recipes themselves, and personal headnotes.

In all, there are more than two dozen recipes in the book, including one from teacher Betsy DiJulio.

“When you see the results of their work, I think you will join me in bowing in these students' directions, as well as that of their English teachers', for each student quickly grasped the concept of vivid, sensory language to entice readers to want to make their recipes," DiJulio said.

An avid cook, DiJulio has already tested vegan versions of some of the meals and confirms they are divine. One of the artists/chefs, Ellyse Witt '26, treated her class to her White Chicken Chili, complete with rice and toppings. The meal was a hit.

Among the other recipes in the 57-page book are cinnamon rolls, banana pudding, churros, paella, buckeyes, cannoli, are so much more.

“We hope you enjoy our collaborative cookbook now and for years to come," DiJulio said.

Bon Appetit!
