Last year, Ray Fitzgerald '19 was diagnosed with leukemia. On the one-year anniversary of that diagnosis, he and several other Bulldog classmates, family, and friends completed a Half Ironman competition. His fellow Ironmen and women from the Class of 2019 were Colin Looney, Robert Frazier, and Holly Cromwell. Raegan Fitzgerald '20 and Ian Fitzgerald '22 also competed in the race. Michael Frazier '16 and Luke Frazier '17 did the Half Ironman as a team.

In the lead-up to the race, Team TRI-ing To Beat Blood Cancer raised more than $20,000 for Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), blowing past their $10,000 fundraising goal.

The team had 15 racers sign up to swim, bike, and run 70.3 miles in Oceanside, California on March 28, with more than 70 people making the trip out to show support on race day. The entire event was a testament to the strength of the Bulldog alumni community!

In December 2025, the team threw the LLS Christmas Soirée at SmartMouth Brewing Co., LLC in Virginia Beach, and it turned into something genuinely special. Hundreds of supporters showed up in suits and gowns, and they raised $45,802 in a single night.
