Through Norfolk Academy’s partnership with the Virginia Arts Festival, all Lower School students were treated to an exciting performance by the Gaudete Brass Ensemble.
Gaudete is Latin for "joy" or "joyfulness" and the ensemble musicians told students that they typically have so much fun playing together that this word is the perfect name for their group!
The quintet did the customary introduction of the five instruments (two trumpets, trombone, french horn, and tuba) and played special music that featured each one. The members made the difficult music more “digestible” by comparing the experience to trying new and strange-looking food. Having favorites is good ,but being open to trying new flavors is better!
