Student Musicians Play in Senior Regional Orchestra Event

Two members of the Norfolk Academy Orchestra can now add the distinct honor of having played with the Senior Regional Orchestra to their list of accomplishments. Juniors Katie Post and Matthew Fisher auditioned for the group alongside students in grades 9-12 from across the region this past September. Students were selected for three different groups: Preparatory, Chamber, and Symphony. All three groups in the Senior Regional Orchestra gave a concert to a packed auditorium - standing room only! - at Ocean Lakes High School this past Saturday, November 10.

Following their auditions this fall, Katie placed in the Symphony Orchestra, and Matthew was selected as an alternate. However, as is often the case in the music world, he was called up to join the Chamber group just days prior to the performance.

“The event is a wonderful experience and opportunity for our students to think of friendship in a different light outside of Norfolk Academy,” said Middle and Upper School Music & Orchestra teacher Kelby Schnepel. “All of the groups spend two days meeting and making new friends and reconnecting with old friends while working together to make beautiful music.”

Congratulations, Katie and Matthew!
