How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
I have been at Norfolk Academy for 22 years

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
Both of my parents were educators, and I always knew at an early age that was the path for me. Growing up, my parents were able to make all of my and my brother’s athletic events, and I wanted to be able to do the same for my kids. I wanted to have the best of both worlds, a career and a family - education allowed me to have both.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
I enjoy coming to work every day and seeing my colleagues and working with the kids. It keeps me young at heart. I love being in an environment where you can teach kids in the Lower School, and watch them grow up through Middle and Upper School as they play on the athletic fields or perform on stage.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...of all the opportunities for the teachers and the students. It’s a great place to work and learn!

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
My family and I are probably watching some type of sporting event on tv or in person. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially when we can be outside.

Last book read:
A book by Fern Michaels that my mother-in-law loaned to me.

Favorite food?
I love peanut M&M’s

A movie is being made about your life. Whom would they cast to play you?
Reese Witherspoon, just because I enjoy going to watch her movies.
Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
My very first music concert was Elvis Presley. My mom was a huge fan and she took us to see him when we lived in Alabama.

"When I grow up, I want to be..."
...healthy and spending time with family and friends.
