How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
This is my first year!

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I wanted to share my passion for the ancient world. It is a topic of study that looms large over both our educational system and society, and its influence on - and relationship to -  the present should be understood and appreciated. Plus, it's just so much fun!

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
The opportunity to engage with students consistently throughout the day. Being able to fashion bonds with children in the classroom, on the field, and over food seems to be an excellent way to have a positive impact on their lives.

Last book read:
I want to say Roumeli by Patrick Leigh Fermor, because it's a romantic piece of travel literature and the author's life was the stuff of epics. But really it was Byzantine to Modern Pottery in the Aegean: An Introduction and Field Guide by Joanita Vroom.

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I like to bake, hike, read, write, go to the movies, listen to podcasts, and play board games. Also indulging in a lot of Netflix.
Favorite food?
Pesto. Doesn't matter on what.

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
A husky, heavily-bearded Henry Cavill.
Fun fact your students might find surprising:
I have fallen into an underground structure while on an archaeological project...more than once.

“When I grow up, I want to be…” of student-loan debt.
