How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
I have been working at Norfolk Academy for 27 years.

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
To get my summers off. Kidding! I wanted the opportunity to work with children and help then realize their goals both academically and athletically.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
I really enjoy the teacher-student camaraderie and respect. We encourage our children in the Upper School to handle the issues that come up directly with their teachers and it helps create lasting relationships.

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
...with the high number of extraordinary students, as a teacher-coach you are challenged daily to provide them the best possible environment to reach their potential in the classroom, on the fields, and in terms of maturity.

Last book read:
Knowing the Score by David Pampineau

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
Catch up with my wife to watch my own children participate in their respective sports and try to get together with a group to go surfing
Favorite food?
A really good burger off the grill

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
Nicholas Cage

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
Until about age 13, the shape used to best describe me was a cube. I also graduated first in my class at W&L...alphabetically, of course.

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...Batman - the only true superhero.
