How long have you been at Norfolk Academy?
Siete años (seven years). It has flown by!

Tell us why you wanted to become an educator:
I’m a people person. I love being around people and am constantly growing and learning myself, and I enjoy sharing that with my students and athletes. I enjoy partaking in a love for curiosity with students and teachers alike; it is empowering! Being in a school every day is a rewarding opportunity.

What most excites you about working at Norfolk Academy?
Watching people grow and being a part of that!

Norfolk Academy is unique because…
It offers a variety of opportunities that are nearly limitless! Faculty and students alike are constantly thinking more deeply each day!

Last book read:
I read a lot of children’s books and chapter books with my son; aside from that, I recently read Wonder by R.J Palacio. All the sixth graders were talking about it so I knew I had to get my hands on it.

What do you like to do in your own time/when you’re not working?
I love being outside with my family. We love camping and hiking! I enjoy studying Spanish and being with my friends. I’ve also started my own business so I put a lot of extra time and energy into that.
Favorite food?
Baleadas from a Honduran street cart...truly the most amazing food I’ve ever had. It is a traditional Honduran dish composed of a thick flour tortilla, folded in half and filled with mashed fried red beans, crumbled cheese, and mantequilla (a type of cream).

A movie is being made about your life. Who would they cast to play you?
My twin sister! Or Natalie Portman.

Fun fact your students might not know about you/might find surprising:
I hiked an active volcano in Guatemala and stood 3 feet from flowing lava!

“When I grow up, I want to be…”
...the best version of myself. And career-wise, I’d love to be a university Spanish professor.
